Synopsis: [?] [From The Moving Picture World]? An interesting and instructive film, depicting the different stages in the manufacture of fountain pens, beginning with the examination of crude rubber biscuits, then in turn grinding and washing the same, the process of drying and mixing (two-thirds rubber, one-third sulfur), the wonderful automatic covering machine, hand covering of mandrels with sheet rubber, packing of covered mandrels in soapstone, before vulcanizing; the vulcanizing oven, in which 5,000 pens are vulcanized at 308 degrees Fahrenheit; the stamping of the trademark on each pen; testing of the pens for leakage, and the making of gold pens.
