Married actor and producer Frank Ross, 11 June 1932; divorced, 14 March 1949.

Jean Arthur began her acting career in motion pictures, appearing in productions by Fox Film Corporation (1923), Action Pictures (1924), Metro-Goldwyn Pictures Corporation (1924), Independent Pictures Corporation (1925), R-C Pictures Corporation (1925), Gotham Productions (1926), Jess Smith Productions (1927), Monty Banks Enterprises (1927), Paramount Famous Lasky Corporation (1928-1929), Rowland V. Lee Productions (1929), and Paramount Famous Lasky Corporation (1929).

Arthur is best remembered for her roles in Frank Capra’s films Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936), You Can’t Take It With You (1938) and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), and for Billy Wilder’s A Foreign Affair (1948).
