This DVD boxset contains three silent D.W. Griffith feature films, including the previously unavailable The Avenging Conscience (1914), an early Biograph split-reel short, Griffith’s two sound features, and the Photoplay Productions’ three-part documentary D.W. Griffith: Father of Film (1993), directed by David Gill and Kevin Brownlow.

The Avenging Conscience (1914) has been mastered in high-definition from a print in the Raymond Rohauer collection, and is presented with music performed by Martin Marks. Way Down East (1920) is presented from the Museum of Modern Art restoration of the film, transferred in high-definition, with musical accompaniment by The Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra. Sally of the Sawdust (1925) has been mastered in HD and features musical accompaniment by Donald Sosin. Abraham Lincoln (1930) and The Struggle (1931) have also been remastered in high-definition.
