This Blu-ray Disc edition from Kino Lorber features both films that constitute the Die Nibelungen cycle, Siegfried (1924) and Kriemhild’s Revenge (1924), in newly-restored versions produced by the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Murnau-Stiftung, Germany. The restoration utilized incomplete camera negatives, duplicate negatives, and various 35mm positive prints. In additiona to the photochemical restoration of the film, additional digital stabilization and retouching was performed for this high-definition home video edition.

The films are accompanied by the original music scores composed by Gottfried Huppertz for the original theatrical releases.

The edition is supplemented with an hour-long documentary on the film.

This edition, with its high-definition video transfer producing high image quality, should be the best edition of Die Nibelungen available on home video.

The source print was assembled by F.W. Murnau Stiftung from materials held by the Munich Film Museum, Gosfilmofond film archive, the National Film and Television Archive of the British Film Institute, and the Austrian Film Archives.

The films are accompanied by the original Gottfried Huppertz music score, performed by the Munich Radio Orchestra.
