This David Shepard-produced DVD edition of Tramp, Tramp, Tramp has been mastered from an excellent 35mm print that features a broad range of greytones, very light speckling, and other minor print anomalies such as processing flaws.
The natural-speed video transfer is very pleasant viewing on standard televisions, but reveals its analog origins on high-definition systems, with reasonably sharp image details but, also, some unnecessary edge sharpening visible in intertitles and long shots with small picture details in contrast relief.
The film is accompanied by an entertaining music score performed on piano by Philip Carli.
Print material such as this is a prime candidate for a new high-definition transfer that could really showcase its wonderful survival state.
This is our recommended home video edition of the film.
